Old style cafe with mostly local customers and great illustrations of old Plymouth. Friendly staff and sensible prices. Residents parking only: try the parking meters up Cliff Road.
We've been wanting to try this place during our week's holiday staying at RWY and finally on our last day we did,I wish we would have gone in sooner as I'm sure we would have eaten there most days. It was a Sunday lunchtime and every seat filled but dropped lucky as a family left just as we arrived. The lady thoroughly cleaned our table and we ordered and paid at the counter which we liked as I absolutely hate asking for the bill at the end of a meal so it was nice to be all paid up straight from the off although I understand some people like to pay after but this personally worked for us. They had run out of chicken which was fine so I had a large gammon roast dinner which was amazing! Fresh veg, loads of gravy and a yorkie! What more can you want from a Sunday lunch! I personally felt a bit awkward looking at the chalkboard menus that were situated behind other diners as I felt like I was looking at their food so a menu on the table would have been great but not enough to knock off a star. Also we knew we wanted a roast dinner so this wasn't really an issue. Overall we had a great experience here and the staff work really hard which I can appreciate as I have worked for many years in a small busy cafe. Well done Port O call!
I enjoyed a breakfast recently and wanted to try a Sunday roast. I was not disappointed. It was great to have a small roast option and vegetarian. I could taste the mustard in the cauliflower cheese, the carrots were tasty and cooked how I like them. I was offered a vegan or standard gravy. I scoffed the lot and will make sure I have enough time to enjoy one of the tasty sounding puddings on the menu. I was a walk in at 3.30pm which was probably the latest time they would take food orders as they close at 5. It was clean, the service was friendly and I will definitely go back.
Visited numerous times and always a friendly welcome. Delicious, hot fresh food. Good value for money with a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Dog friendly with a sausage for the furry visitors. Happy to go again and again!
Lovely home cooked food at reasonable price. Traditional roasts and old fashioned puddings which my husband and l love. We always leave feeling very full !
